    THIS MONTH'S LOLA

    NOVEMBER

Happy birthday, Lola! Boston's best friend turns 1 this month, and it seems only fitting that her anniversary happens just in time for Thanksgiving, a holiday dedicated to celebrating friends, family, and community — the very things Lola treasures most.

Like Lola, I feel so lucky to live in Boston, a city that boasts world-class restaurants, terrific museums, fantastic shopping, and of course the best sports teams anywhere. (Hello, Game 5 ALCS!) Sure, it'd be great if the winters weren't so long and the construction weren't so omnipresent — have you driven in Kenmore Square lately? But overall, I'm proud to call Boston home. It's also where my best friends and family live, and I know that plays a huge part, too. After all, community is really the world we design for ourselves, assembled with family, friends, neighbors, the guy who sells you that skim latte every morning. To honor this message, we asked you, Lola's readers, to chime in with your favorite things about Boston. Judging by your responses, I'm not alone in thinking that we really do live in a terrific place!

So as you celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope you look around and appreciate the world you've created for yourself. And, on behalf of Lola, thank you for making her part of your community, too.
